KEVIN MYERS BSc (Econ) FCA

Practice Director

Career

On graduating from the University of Hull with a Bsc (Econ), Kevin joined the local office of Price Waterhouse in 1989, qualifying as an ICAEW member in 1993. After leaving Price Waterhouse in 1995, Kevin gained further experience back in his home town of Sheffield, before taking the opportunity to “migrate” to the South and join the HB practice in 1997. Having first managed the Tax Department, Kevin progressed to Partner in 1995 and acquired the practice in 2011.

Work

Kevin provides a range of accountancy, tax compliance and advisory services to the SME and owner managed sector. Kevin indicates “our objective is to provide a personal, quality service in a cost effective manner to the SME sector” but the ethos is to do it in a professional way of course, but with a smile upon our face”. He adds “the best compliment I ever received was a client saying you are not like other accountants”.

Outside interests

Kevin is married to Mary and they have three children, Robert, Abigail & Thomas. Aside from being a taxi driver thereto, Kevin’s free time is spent in the garden, and an occasional visit to the gym/pub depending on the day just past. He is an avid Sheffield Wednesday fan and might just spend far too much time watching and generally discussing their failings.


JENNIFER KING

Practice Manager

Jennifer is a long standing member of the team, having joined the original HB practice in 1979 as a Personal Assistant, progressing to Practice Manager in 2002. Her current role aside from the day-to-day management of Hardcastle Blake, is in providing bookkeeping and in-house accountancy services to a diverse range of businesses. Jennifer enjoys promoting the practice to existing and potential clients. Her professionalism delivered in a friendly, approachable manner is her key attribute.

Jennifer is married to Dave, they have two children and two granddaughters. She enjoys, music, art and photography. Most of her spare time is spent walking and training their ten spaniels.

LISA DOUGLAS

Payroll Manager

Lisa joined the original HB practice in 1998 as a Secretary/PA, progressing to Payroll Manager in 2008. As well as assisting clients in this regard, she also provides support to the practice in relation to personal tax and IT. Give Lisa a problem and she will solve it.

Lisa is married with two children and in the little spare time Lisa gets she enjoys cycling and walking.


MARY MYERS

Administration Assistant

Mary, wife of Kevin Myers joined the practice as Administration Assistant in February 2016 after a number of years working as an Early Years Teacher. Aside from keeping Kevin in check, her time is spent bringing up their three children, Robert, Abigail & Thomas. Mary’s spare time is spent in and around her home village of Drayton Parslow, where she can often be seen walking her rescue dogs, Aldo and Clover and trying to live The Good Life.

LIZ NORRIS

Taxation Accountant

Liz joined the practice in late 2018 on a part-time basis in a newly created role to complete client’s personal tax returns. She is a qualified member of the Association of Taxation Technicians, having gained her qualification whilst working for a large firm of Accountants in London. She has over 30 years’ experience in this area.

Liz is married with a son who keeps her busy, but most of her time is spent caring for her horse Dylan and enjoying the countryside.


CATH LAIDLER

Administration Assistant

Cath joined the team in November 2018, after working as a Manager for many years at Tesco.

Cath is married with five children and two grandsons. Cath’s spare time is spent having fun with her family, walking her dog Rex and reading an occasional good book.
